Shannon Creek Dam

Shannon Creek Dam is located in the Clarence Valley Local Government Area and is a part of the Regional Water Supply Scheme that links the Clarence Valley and Coffs Harbour bulk water supplies.

It is a great place to visit with car parking, information boards and a viewing area at top of the dam wall.

It is open to the public Thursday to Sunday except for Good Friday and Christmas Day. However it's a good idea to check with Clarence Valley Council prior to your trip as the dam may be shut from time to time for operational or public safety reasons, for example in the event of a bushfire.

To get to Shannon Creek Dam

From Coffs Harbour:

Head west on the Orara Way through the villages of Karangi, Coramba, Nana Glen and Glenreagh.
When you get to the "T" intersection of Orara Way and Armidale Road (about 36km past Glenreagh), turn left onto Armidale Road.
Follow Armidale Road towards the village of Coutts Crossing. Just before entering Coutts Crossing, take the first right onto Geregarow Road.
Continue along Geregarow Road until you see the signs for Shannon Creek Dam and turn left into Shannondale Road (nearly 5km).
Follow Shannondale Road through the gates of Shannon Creek Dam. Please watch for wildlife along this road.
Drive up to the picnic area and the viewing area at the top of the Dam wall.

Please Note: as the prime function of Shannon Creek Dam is to provide a safe and secure water supply for the Clarence Valley and Coffs Harbour communities, you can assist in protecting our drinking water quality during your visit by abiding by the following rules:

NO lighting of fires
NO camping
NO fishing
NO swimming
NO boating
NO pets
please do NOT feed the wildlife
please use rubbish bins provided or take your rubbish with you (no-one likes to visit a littered site)
please consider neighbours and residents in the surrounding communities when travelling to and from Shannon Creek Dam
