Central Coffs Estuaries Coastal Management Program
The estuaries of Moonee Creek, Coffs Creek, and Boambee/Newports Creek (the Central Coffs Estuaries) are major assets for the Coffs Harbour Region.
They provide a stunning natural environment, and a range of recreational opportunities for the local community and visitors alike.
However, the estuaries are facing increasing pressures from natural hazards, catchment land usage, urban development, and climate change.
In order to tackle these issues, City of Coffs Harbour is currently developing a Coastal Management Program (CMP) for the three estuaries.
The program will be prepared in line with the NSW Government Coastal Management Framework, a recent initiative by the NSW Government to equip communities to respond to the challenges facing the state’s coastline and estuaries.
