Community Feedback Sought on Brelsford Park Masterplan Features
Published on 08 October 2021
Following a successful grant bid of nearly $5m for improvement works, the Brelsford Park Masterplan and Precinct Plan are to go on display for community feedback from today (Friday, 8 October 2021) until 4 November 2021.
The Masterplan was developed in consultation with the community and adopted in 2013, with the objectives of transforming the park into a lively and inclusive hub for community well-being, culture and leisure.
Community feedback is being sought to help inform the detailed design and planning of three key elements:
- the civic entry;
- water play; and
- community event space.
The Masterplan also includes broad shared paths that connect Earl Street to Curacoa Street and two arching paths from Earl Street to Albany Street. The tennis courts were omitted from the study pending a tennis feasibility study, which is currently nearing completion.
In July, Federal Member for Cowper, Pat Conaghan, State MP for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh and Coffs Harbour Mayor Councillor Denise Knight announced that Council is to receive $4,997,620 from the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund (BLERF) for the Brelsford Park upgrade.
The grant covers the paved civic entry and water play, community event space including small stage and amphitheatre, mobile kiosk location, additional public toilets, pathways, main path lighting, picnic facilities and seating, shade tree plantings and drainage improvements.
